ABOUT

Melissa specializes in working with survivors of complex trauma, religious trauma, ADHD, and anxiety.

To the outside world, it may appear that you have it all together, yet you can’t help but feel like something needs to change. No matter how hard you try, you suffer from worry, self doubt, people pleasing, burn out, detachment from relationships, and guilt when putting your own needs first.

In order to resolve our inner emotional turmoil, there comes a time when we must choose between staying in a safe place we know, or taking on the challenges of the unknown.

Therapy is often a first step when we choose to take on the unknown process of healing and it is my honor to walk alongside you. Together, we can rebel from the pain of anxiety, trauma, and wounds of childhood programming to step into a life of peaceful authenticity.

Melissa can provide support with…

  • Gracefully transitioning through major life transitions such as breakups, childbirth, post graduation life, or early to mid career challenges.

  • Deconstructing childhood programming of self doubt and self depleting patterns which no longer serve you & constructing confidence and values that fit you as you are.

  • Identity exploration and development, including exploration of sexuality or gender expression.

  • Releasing anxiety, guilt, fear, & shame.

  • Navigating experiences with ADHD.

  • Supporting individuals in helping professions.

  • Exploring family of origin issues.

  • Managing college and graduate school related stress.

  • Navigating faith crisis and healing from religious or systemic trauma.

  • Healing from sexual trauma.

  • Exploring the transitions that come with emerging to middle adulthood.

About Melissa

As a therapist, I act as a mediator to the many different inner parts of you, and I help you bridge those parts so that you can access your own innate wisdom. Compassion, vulnerability, and curiosity serve as the foundation for all of my work with clients. I hope to bring a calming energy to our sessions, and I will enter our work together with open-mindedness and willingness to meet you where you are.

Melissa works best with motivated individuals who are ready to take on the journey of transformation.

Approach to therapy

In our work together, your sessions will be an opportunity to slow down from the busyness of life to reflect and heal. I believe you are the expert on you, and I feel honored when clients invite me to explore the authentic, messy parts of their world. My focus is to bring light to those parts of yourself which have been in the shadows of your consciousness, blocking you from making changes.

I take into account the unique aspects of each individual (such as your worldview, culture, race/ethnicity, gender expression, daily habits, family of origin, spiritual beliefs, etc.) in order to tailor therapy sessions to you. I am a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional (CCTP), so my services are trauma informed and I incorporate therapeutic techniques that encourage insight-building, and guidance on taking actionable steps toward healing and change.

Treatment modalities I offer include EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Narrative Therapy, and elements of Internal Family Systems or Parts Work.
